WHO’S TO BE BLAMMED?

Recently I overheard that several of the schools in my neighbor hood are going to be shutdown. I have asked myself why? I have to remind most South Africans that most of our grand parents are illiterate due to apartheid regime. Our parents on the other hand are educated some are not due to the same reason. The reason why some of them are going to be shutdown is due to the fact that children don`t come to school anymore. Children beat up their teachers.

My mother once told me that they use to walk miles to get to school during their time. They will go to school without pocket money or lunch box but they survived all of those barriers. Ironically, South Africa has been the democratic state for almost 17 years now and education is free for everyone regardless of your culture, race, belief, class and gender. In contrast, you will still found teenagers who refuse schooling. What wrong with us? Our parents work so hard for us to have lunch box and pocket money even pay transport for us to go to school yet we refuse to grasp the fundamentals that are shaping our bright future ahead of us. In addition, the government has also subsidized by providing grants to new born babies. We have schools on our door steps and those who stay far; the government has committed itself to provide bicycles just for you to get to school and it has ensured every child a meal to consume daily and yet we still have the guts to stay home doing nothing, refuse to go to school, go to school but spend the whole day outside in the sun during school hours. When you go to town in cities such as Pretoria, U will bump into hundred’s of school children in town walking around, smoking, kissing etc.

What do we really want? Recently, I read a story of a 19 year old teenager who has four kids caring the fifth one. Are we really thrilled about us altering to be baby manufacturing machines? Are we really thrilled to be teenage fathers? Who`s to be blame? We spend our weekends in sheebins dancing the whole night. Nelson Mandela spends 27 years of his life in jail just for me and you to liberated, to have the freedom of education, to have the freedom of expression, to have brighter future yet we fail to spend 27 minutes with our books. It`s time to ask yourself if you are living to that expectation. Is your future bright or it is field with criminal records? Ask yourself if things you are doing now will lead you to darkness or light.

There are more sheebins compared to schools and churches, some of them are built near school doors. If you are a parent, I want you to ask yourself if you have played any positive role in your kid’s life. Do your kids look up to you or you are just a father or mother who come back home drunk and wet yourself and shout at everyone? What kind of a parent are you? Are you taking you role as parent into practice? Does your kid look up to you and be inspired or expired? Do you come back home and not talk to your kids just because they pissed you off at work or you come back and tell them that you love them and teach them thinks about life? If you are a father who run away from your responsibilities, who does your kid have to say Dad to? Don`t be just a good seed carrier but be a responsible seed carrier.

All the problems we have in this country are due to few things. We lack source of gratefulness and humbleness. We lack unity, some parents don`t speak to their kids as if your angry at your friend or your boyfriend. When are you going to sit down as parents with your kids and tell them that there is nothing wrong about sex, it is just the punctuality it significant? When are you as a kid, going to take your role into action and be a kid not an adult? When are you as parents going to take you role to lead the children to the brighter future? When are you as a parents going to stop blaming the government for giving kids rights and start to ask yourself that why other parents prevail and guide the kids even though they have rights?

It can start with you, I mean you.
